About Our Mission
Our Purpose
The Task Force was created by the Florida Department of Financial Services in 2010. The Task Force is an industry led nonprofit association created by the Florida Department of Financial Services in 2010. The primary mission of the Task Force is to fight P&C insurance fraud. Through engaging and empowering consumers, legislators, and other stakeholders, the Task Force will:
- Bring the public and private sectors together to fight fraud and financial crime.
- Reduce insurance costs and protect the Florida economy.
- Promote fraud awareness amongst its membership and organizations throughout the State of Florida.
- Develop antifraud communication strategies for its membership to utilize.
Key Mission Goals
Prevent and Disrupt Fraud Schemes
- Actively identifies and investigates fraudulent activity—especially after storms when consumers are most susceptible to fraud and exploitation.
- Implements anti-fraud strike teams and enforcement actions to stop perpetrators in their tracks
Educate and Empower Consumers
- Publishes consumer guidebooks and outreach materials, like post-disaster brochures, to help Floridians spot and avoid fraud.
- Maintains active public education campaigns—including hotlines and online tools—to alert victims and deter scams
Coordinate Across Agencies and Stakeholders
- Collaborates with federal, state, and local law enforcement, prosecutors, regulatory agencies (like the Office of Insurance Regulation), and industry partners to share intelligence and investigative capabilities
- Part of Fraud Free Florida, a statewide initiative led by the CFO to catalogue scams and streamline enforcement
Data Gathering & Trends Analysis
- Collects and analyzes data on fraud patterns so it can forecast threats and stay one step ahead
- Shares findings with regulators, insurers, law enforcement, and consumers to build a stronger statewide defense

REPORT SUSPECTED FRAUD - $25,000 Florida Fraud Fighter Reward Program
The anti-fraud reward program was established in October 1999 to encourage and reward qualified individuals who report information on suspected insurance fraud that leads to an arrest and conviction. Our fraud detectives need your information on suspected fraud in your area and if your tip leads to the arrest and conviction of a fraudster, you could be eligible for up to $25,000 in rewards.
